    Quality always gave the keys.

You must have been with another company.

I was just checking out a website that's, just is what your looking for. Their requirements are 1 ton pick-up for the RV tow away division and possibly a passport as they go into Canada. However, this site says that I cannot publish the website, otherwise I'll get kicked off of it. Anyway you'll have to go to their site to see their requirements. star fleet trucking is the company. There are RV companies in IN around Goshen, that cater to the type of movements you are looking at.

You are correct, i started hauling RV's in Jan 2011. I drove for a few different companies until I found the highest rate per mile, which is JET..LOL no im not a recruiter. What I am saying is in relation the money is true. I am just trying to give some information to help others out.

As to the Ford comment, my 2011 with the new 6.7 is on hell of an engine, Ive got 125k on the truck with no issues, time will tell tho.

These fly by night companies you mention are the reason everyone complains about the money they make. I make .20/mile more then every company Ive ever heard of, and that is just my base. On top of that I get a higher bonus on my canada miles, and my East Coast and West coast miles. After all of that I get a milage bonus at the end of the month if I exceed 6k loaded miles which is easy.

So Rick, I appreciate your skepticism, and it is understandable. But I assure you the numbers I am quoting are accurate.

You make a little more than we do, but they pay our permits, tolls and return fees to the US where when I checked yours did not.

So, it works out to about the same.

I will be interested in the 2011 Ford motor and issues. They look like a bear to work on.

In anther post I feel as tho i was called a liar, and a nube. Not in those words, but. I will do my best to go thru this.

I will break this down with my rates and expenses, But I am going to change it to 6k loaded miles, because that is my monthly goal.

Today I am getting a base rate of .90/ mile plus a FSC of .504, 1.404/loaded mile.

    6,000 x 1.404 = $8,424 of gross revenue.

My goal is to make 13 mpg round trip on every trip. I do better on some but unless i get horrible wind conditions I always make 13 round trip (10 loaded and 18-19 empty)

    so 12,000 miles @ 13 mpg = 923 gals of diesel.

This is where you have to be smart and buy your fuel right, ( i have a 98 gal Tflow in the back, so i hold 137 gals) I filled up in MO yesterday for 3.39/gal, Tx the day before was 3.49, IL was 3.68 and In was 3.62. But average that and lets say my fuel cost was on average 3.68

    923 gals @ 3.68 = $3,396.64

Ok on to Tolls, I dont get reimbursed for hwy tolls or bridge tolls. But these only come into play on trips going East of indiana, for which i get paid more, and chicago, which i can avoid. Trips thru OK are about the only ones you can't avoid.

Food, I get to expense 50% of my food per my accountant. Its up to you but I bring some and buy some.

Hotels, I have a Woodhouse sleeper in the back seat. So I only get a room on long trips on occasions or you can shower at a truck stop.

OK we have gross revenue of $8,424

    Fuel cost of $3,396
    Tolls, lets say $50
    Hotel/showers $100
    Food will call $150

    Total expenses = 3696

    So, $8424 - $3,696 = $4,728 in trip profit

Now I get a bonus of .15/mile for all miles once I hit 6k miles (its actually 6,001 but whatever)

    6,000 x .15 = $900

    So profit + bonus = $5,628

Now subtract Truck/Ins cost This will vary for each person, my truck is new so my cost is high at $1,000 for truck and ins.

    $5,628 - $1,000 = $4628

You still have truck maintenance. Insert you own figures here

So at a bare minimum I will have generated $4,628 * 12 months = $55,536 annually less maintenance.

This is assuming I never go to canada, @ .20/mile MINIMUM, at times it is .30/mile + and trip bonus of $100-$200.
    West coast pays .05/mile
    East coast pays .10/mile

I go to canada as much as I can, so lets say 35%, which is low, @ 6k miles per month x 12 thats 72k/year loaded. 35% of 72k is 25.2k miles/year in canada

25.2k x .20 canada bonus = 5k in additional profit/yr - less canadian permits which are about $35/trip for the SK permit, I cant remember the BC cost but its near the same i believe.

    So $55,536 + $5,000 of canadian bonus = $60,536 less maintenance.

This is based on bare minimum miles at 6k/month, does not show and east or west coast bonus mile money, does not include and back hauls ever. ( and they are rare so dont expect many)

If a guy hits 7k loaded miles, then the bonus goes from .15/mile to .19/mile on ALL LOADED MILES.

    So 7k x .19 = $1,330, or an additional $430/month x 12 = $5,160/yr + that 1k miles yields a profit of its own

    SO $55,536
    +$5,000 Canadian bonus,
    + $5,160 additional 7k miles bonus
    + profit from the additional 1k miles/month of $9k/year

Add this all up and your at $74,969/year

Still you have to subtract Plates, Physical, Truck inspection, Tires, Oil changes & Maint.

So when I said a guy can make $70k/year doing this is was pretty dam close. Like anything it depends how much you want to work.

As for me, it fills a hole until this economy gets better and I can return to home building.

Got a better way to make more money with my truck? Im all ears.

They do pay my US border fee of 10.75 when i return to the states, They pay for all trailer permits, but not truck permits.

My Ford 6.7 has 125k miles, I had an oil leak from the turbo fixed under warranty.

I have made some tweaks to the truck, its 565hp, 1100 ft/tq I get 19 mpg empty @ 70, I dont care what I pull, I get 10.8 loaded on the biggest trailers (non cdl) when im loaded and the wind is low. I just went to Lubbock and wind was horrible the whole trip, got 9.8 pulling a 30'.
