I was looking into Panther Expedited Services, Driving either a Cargo Van, or a Straight Truck. I have read its an O/O company but they have fleet owners that hire and lease on to them. I have tried e-mailing them and calling but cant get any return call or e-mail.

They are Ohio base Expedite company, one of the largest in the Expedite business.I'm currently approved by them and heading up there in 4 weeks to do orientation which is 2 days. All O/O no company own trucks, some O/O have one truck lease on with them and some have many trucks lease with them. You will need to find a owner to drive for, there not ready any help when it comes to that but if you go to expeditersonline dot com,you can post ads that your looking to drive for an owner. Also if you drive straight truck,I would team up with someone, you will get better loads and more likely move more rather than a solo driver, but depends who you ask,you get different inputs on that. Also you need to know your pay by the load not by the mile. Its either 40/60 or 60/40,if owner pays fuels and tolls, you get 40%,if you pay fuel and tolls, you get 60% plus fsc.Don't let any owner make you take less than 40% or 60%,some owners like to rip off drivers, new drivers are the easy target.I would stay away from cargo vans but if cargo vans is your thing, thats fine also.Put a app in there web site and then call them, tell them you put a app in and they will get it going.Sending emails is just a waste of time.

Panther Expedited is a large and as far as I know a very reputable company. Unfortunately they have one huge problem. They have NO control over the people who haul their freight. An owner operator is, apparently, completely out of their control. Even when that O O lies to the people who drive for him, and he/she treats them in a very unprofessional way. My advice, to anyone who wants to drive for a Panther O O, is to ask Panther the right questions. The first question that I would ask them is: What if I don't get along with the person that I drive for because he mistreats me? If I had asked that one question in the first place instead of after I started; then I would have gone somewhere else. There answer to me after the fact was; "You drive for them or quit".:biggrin_25513: If you go to work for a Panther O O get it in writing how much he is paying you.

Panther doesn't get involved in what goes on between fleet owners and drivers . It won't do any good to ask them about fleet owners . Ask the fleet owners for phone numbers of drivers that have driven for them .

Teaming really only works for husband / wife teams . Two drivers don't get twice as many miles so people from different households will make less teaming than they will driving solo . It's pretty hard to find owners accepting solo drivers though .

I think is all depends what company your lease with, teams with hazmat get better miles because there may be only hazmat loads where there at and there can be 3 trucks sitting at the same shipper but the other 2 trucks don't have hazmat. But it all depends.
