And you just let'em take your money and did nothin? Even if they opened another company I would got something out of them or they would had a hard time getting to work for the next six weeks or so. Two wrongs dont make it right but it #### sure gets ya even.
We had a broker/carrier in Laredo a couple years ago that had good paying loads that went back home, they started out paying in 2 to 3 weeks then it was 5 and 6 weeks. The last few loads we hauled were well over 90 days old. Calls to them went unanswered. I was in Laredo on a Friday and told the boss I was going after my money and he ask to get his too. This outfit owed over $20K to us. I went in to see the owner, shocking that he wasnt there so I told the dispatcher there I would just wait for him. He tells me 3 or 4 times he has no idea when he well be back and he will have him call me. I said I'll just wait. After about 2 hours the boss calls and we have a somewhat heated talk about the money he owes and hes tell'en some crap about the shipper in Mexico hasn't paid him so he cant pay us. Now on the freight bills every one has collect on them so that lie aint gonna fly.
Now I see he aint gonna come back as long as I'm there so I scope out the joint and there's 3 new Lufkin trailers so I hook to one and take it to lot and drop it, the owner of the lot knew what was going on and was find with all this. Next day I get a call from the broker jaw jackin about me takin his trailer, told him when I got the money I'd bring the trailer back. Come Sunday afternoon I got another call and he wants to meet, got a check, he wants his trailer, told him after I cash the check Monday I'll bring it back. Check got cashed he got his trailer and were all a bunch of happy campers again. Needless to say we dont haul for him anymore nor have I seen him post any loads either.
I wont let a broker or carrier steal my money and get by with it, and if anyone dosent believe this happen there is a member on here that was in Laredo that weekend that babysat my trailer. -
Maybe one day when I get a newer truck...
07-379Pete Thanks this.
