is my o.t.r career over??

To most companies now, there is no "so minor" category. They're preventable or non-preventable. Things being as they are, though, you should try. There is a coming driver shortage and you might get lucky. Just be honest and realistic in your expectations. Since you had a CDL, they will check your DAC; it's only if you've never had one that they only check your MVR. But you can't tell until THEY tell you. If it's really what you want to do - and with that many, um, "incidents," you should be really, deeply honest with yourself first - then do it.

 

well i was always told being honest is the best policy, but sometimes you have to know when to keep your mouth shut. not to be rude but if no one was going to report them 4 u, then i wldnt have reported them either just for the case in point. you reported them and now you might be up the creek. now i cld see reporting them if they were serious. thats 1 reason you see drivers that know better to keep some cash in the pocket just incase they srew up, which can happen. they bump another tralier or somethin and instead of getting companies and police and whoever else involved they just throw the other driver a few bucks for the problem to be solved. i cnt say u wnt get a job but it might be tough. all you can do is try. good luck driver and try to keep it clean from here on out.

 

If someone else property is not involved, then try not to be such a straight shooter. I know of a guy that got to close to a curb at a warehouse and lost the right bumper on a century class. He picked up the pieces, threw em in the cab and waited to the next morning at a truck stop. He laid the pieces out, took pictures and called safety and said someone clipped him. Safety took the pictures, filed a claim in there system for document purposes and said have a nice day.

And which truckstop diner did you hear this story at, and how big was the guys belt buckle? Be honest. It was one of those dinner plate sized belt buckles wasnt it? I knew it.

 

No local work in NYC, this must be a joke. A huge city, and no local work.

 

Hazmat, only about a 3rd of companies use DAC services. Apply to smaller companies. Like Wargames said, no work in NYC/north Jersey? You are not looking too hard. Besides Craigslist.org, look in your newspaper, CareerBuilder.com, Monster.com, plus there are many other places. Even go through a temp agency. They don't know all the rules to hire truck drivers, but do.
You'll just have to work your way back without hitting things. You always have choices when you drive and back. Start picking better ones.
