When you come to Schneider they will send you for a new med card (unless your's is fairly new and you have the original long form). They also send you for a drug screen before bringing you all the way to orientation. Some companies let you travel only to send you back home cuz you have an issue.

I wish they would hire in my neck of the woods. One of the fellows that works for me worked for SNI as OTR and he loved it. Says if this regulatory thing doesn't work out, he'll go back on the road, but he now has a baby, so I'm pretty sure his wife might not be as supportive now as when he didn't.

Traveler, I too am 60 and coming out of retirement to do the driving gig again. Big decision. But Schneider has it together. Love the fact they are not a public company. No greedy Wall Street shareholders calling the shots. Have just filled out job app, credit app, and budget worksheet. Will probably finance thru them. I hate banks! Anyway if I get past the job application (my 19 years may not be recent enough) I will definitely go with them.
You will be fine signing up with them too. Good luck man!

:biggrin_25512: . Did it ever dawn on you greed is what keeps these companies private ? Isn't it greed that has Schneider paying less than 1980's wages ? Never mind what recruiters say . Get the Schneider CEO under oath testifying before the House Transportation Subcomittee and this is what he says
Finance what through Schneider ? A tractor ? Be a lease/operator ? You think you hate banks ? :biggrin_25513: I suggest you do some research here . Hundreds of negative posts have been made regarding lease operating .
I hope you retired with a good pension .

Schneider finance has standard financing just like a bank andbi know you can take your tractor to other companies after like 6mo or something. I was in orientation with an owner operator that had a snibfinancebtruck and was coming back from some other company.

Sni is run very strangly. Itvis owned by the sni famil butbit is run by a board of directors. The founder turned over control to a board so thatbafter he died the co.wouldnt get torn apart by family members. How many times you seen a company get destroyed by a lazy, intitled son after dad died?

The statement wasn't saying the driver's pay hasn't changed since the 80's he's saying the #1 cost to the company is driver's pay same as it's been since the 80's. Same as i bet it is to most every company. Now Schneider isn't perfect and we could always make more but to take a statement out of context to suit an arguement isn't right. And If SNi was worried about making the most money they could go public like walmart did and make a boat load of money.
