It's because NY is one of the states that actually does it right and requires a hands free headset while driving. I'm from Albany originally, and the NYS Troopers are pretty tough on enforcing it. Good for them.

Down here in Florida, I see more moronic driving involving people blathering on a cell phone than not. Go down I-4 sometime and count the number of people with a phone pressed to their ear - and then observe that about 88% of them are oblivious to the world around them.

And the ones that aren't talking are texting. This state is terrible for people texting and driving. Mix it in with a few senile snowbirds and it's like a gauntlet to keep your fenders on traversing the state.

 

I KNOW A DUI IS SOME TIMES DROPED TO RECKLESS NEVER HEARD OF IT BEING DROPED TO CARELESS..EATHERWAY NOT MY situation ANYWAYS..MY STORY IS A JOKE...MY LAWLER SAID ITS MICHIGANS FALL BACK LAW . in other words ,WHEN A COP SCREWS UP THEY CAN ALWAYS THROW THAT ON U AND IT STICKS...MY BIGGER PROBLEM IS NOW I FINISHED SCHOOL NOV 4 2011...WELL PRIME SAID ITS OVER 45 DAYS .HV TO REFRESH AT SCHOOL FOR 15 HRS DRIVE TYM...THATS MORE F $ THERE IS SO MUCH TO THIS SH- T!!! that is not disclose ,,,,WTF. IM BROKE.

 

I have never heard of a DUI being downgraded to anything. It is one of those charges where you are either guilty or you are guilty. It is a log of revenue for the government and is difficult to fight.

 

No DUI HERE......NO REDUCED CHARGES HERE....IT IS JUST A CARELESS DRIVEING CHARGE...........
