well i started driveing truck for may back in aug 20th. there has been lots of downs and few ups. ive had issues with my first dm. he was vendickive and mean.. even tho he said he wasnt. so i got a new dm who i didnt choose. at first it started out great. as time has gone on boy has this been a mistake. i asked for time off and only gotn one for my dentist. other wise its been screw over after screw over. i had to pick t day or xmas. so i picked xmas 24 and 25 off. and i made plans with all my family. a week prior to xmas i was denied. my dm has been ok on my miles. but when i confonted her about xmas off she was loud so everyone could hear the conversation and at the same time belittled me. so ya this is customer services at its best i gess? i do understand that being the low person on the pole u gota pay ur doo's. so dont get me wrong there. but for what i can see is ill be leaveing as soon as my 6months time is up for some place hopefuly better. just upseting that this company preaches customer services but yet i was just treated like crap infront of every person in the dispatch room includeing her boss.... so u might want to check things out before joing up with this company. here i thought may trucking was like a famley? this is true for there other drivers they r very willing to help u out. there trucks are great and stuff but on the other side its not pretty. i gess this is how a new bee gets treated here at may trucking? and just to think this company has lost alot of drivers lately. they have just quit. so now may is hireing lots and lots of new drivers... but hey i just wanted to say my peice.

You will find as a student for the first 12 -18 months you will be bottom of the ladder. May is no different to any other company that runs students in their fleet. This is why the turnover rate in the first 12 months is horrendous in this industry. Tough it through the first year and see if it gets better, if not look for another company. -
you better stay til august when you have a year experience
in otr there is no ladder it is what it is -
I dunno about that,I was at May for 4 months right out of school then moved on to SNI dedicated. (I had no complaints with May,it's just that the SNI dedicated job was only 4 states and home every Saturday).
I did the SNI gig for 8 months and they worked my tail off but were pretty fair with me.
I then left that job and landed a local home daily gig driving a wood-chip, hauler for Walsh Trucking,5 days a week 10 hrs a day on average, decent pay and life is pretty good now.
May was fair with me,getting your communication down is most important.
You need to get with your DM way in advance of home-time and keep reminding them of when you want to be off, asking last minute or just asking once a month or two in advance and then never following up doesn't get it.
You need to put that little bug in their ear on a regular basis but be polite and friendly about it. -
Dude, you need to request off way in advance. At least three weeks out. You.might want to grab a book and start reading. You don't need a teacher, you teach yourself. What terminal are you.out.of?
-
What can you expect from a company that lets you become a trainer once you gain 3 months OTR..........
-
At least 3 weeks in advance? So drivers at May have to stay out at least 3 weeks? Unacceptable in today's market. Unless you are just wanting to stay out long periods.
-
Christmas yes, I would give that much notice.
-
I always did 4 weeks out then got 5 days hometime, their looking for the truck to turn 10k miles a month just to break even imo. I liked May, but Corporate was a p.i.a.,

What's customer service got to do with it? You are not thier customer, you are thier employee.
