here is my .02 and why I would not own a Volvo nothing wrong with the truck its self its parts I run a small fleet and also a shop out of SE Wyo and Volvo calls frequently require a special run for parts or a tow bill to Billings or Denver
just to point out some things that one likes as a benefit like the one piece windshield are not really both pieces of glass for my FLD or classics cost $18 a side because there flat curved windshield in my W900 was $600 bucks
U joint for my shakers or KW ran me about $60-75 last one for a Volvo $196

and that is what it boils down to for me is cost/down time

Great truck and best combo of gears/rearend in my opinion. There are tradeoffs with all trucks. You have bought the best riding truck in the industry. Most of the parts issues have been worked out years ago. Make sure you get a Landstar Savings Plus card. With that little card you will get parts and labor discounts and most of the major dealers. And most I have found to be cost + discount. That helps when you run into one of these dealers that has kept the prices at '06 levels while wholesale has dropped by over 50% on Volvo parts.

That's way overpriced on the curved windshield for a KW. Can get one installed for about $250 at local KW's. Found out on here that even $250 installed is overpriced.

it was I have no doubt and the 2 bills would have been much better but the point still remains some times what seems like a benefit or an improvement is not really like the old gauges that you could fix individually or new where ya have to buy a whole cluster etc..
If own starts footing the bills on the equipment vs being a driver little things like this need to be taken into account is all

think location has a lot to do with this one I wish the would improve around here as pretty much the only source is the dealer in Denver and it is what it is

If part is not needed asap. Might be cheaper to shop around, eBay, craigslist, etc. - depends on the part.

as I don't own the only way we see them is broke down and need back up and rolling asap and don't see enough to justify stocking to many parts

From 518k mi to 605k mi I only needed 2 windshields, exh. Press.sensor, 2 head light bulbs. 1 fog light bulb. 9 tires - they were bad to start with, now the
Vgt will be replaced under warranty . Windshield was paid by the insurance company.

I do not like that I have not grease able U-joints.

I purchased a 2011 670 D13 SCR Volvo last Jan 18. I love the ride and comfort this truck has to offer. Fuel mileage is fantastic! 9/10ths mpg better than my 1998 610 D12 Volvo.
But the breakdowns are never ending, (towed 4 times). The financial downtime stress that this truck has caused is well beyond words. I hate to admit it, I have a choice to either sell it or run the risk of losing it. The last 3 months was pretty good...no issues, I thought I was out of the woods. Then last week a whole new round of electrical issues arose.
