What is the best way to find and establish a great relationship with a DM and dipatchers? How much does one put themselves out there to get a descent reputaion with a company? When does one say no but keep good relations?

Best way to make a fleet mgr happy at a mega carrier is to pick up and del on time. Don't ring their phone off the hook unless its an emergency. Most of them are overworked and under paid (just like drivers). Also realize, that the lag time on the Qualcomm can be lenghty . Meaning that mssg you sent at 10:00 a.m. didn't get read until 1:15 for example. Anticipate, plan, and think ahead. It will make your dispatchers life and your life a lot easier.

    Zogg and sdloo76 Thank this.

Do your job correctly and don't whine about getting a load that's going to an area you don't care for. Just do it and get it done. Produce results, not excuses.

Personally I like to do a face to face meeting every so often, just to say hi. Buy your DM a cup of whatever when you do this. Also remember you are not the only driver your DM has,so don't take up too much of his/her time.
