    Mule,

I assume you are Canadian. Do you, or anyone, know if anything like this is in writing in the USA? I am over 65 and very much want to get into trucking. I have my CDL permit here in Colorado and plan on attending truck driving school in March. Does anyone know what my chances are of getting hired? I am physically fit, no drugs, no accidents or tickets, no questionable prescriptions, passed my DOT for getting the permit and entrance into trucking school. I just don't want to be wasting my money if I can't get hired because of my age.
    Any info would be appreciated.

Ontario actually give hard time to the 65+, they have to recertified just like rookie every year, wich is ridiculous. Carrier like challenger where forcing the 65+ to sign an annual contract, have the Drivers to take pay their self to pay for the insurrance, lower the vacation pay ( FROM 6% TO 4%) start a the bottom of the pay scale, being consider as part time Drivers. With the new law all this goes to the drain! :biggrin_25519:

OK, are you talking being generally employed beyond 65, without getting the boot? ( any work, not just driving? )

or are you talking your class "A". where 65 year olds have to re test every year?

Yes, class A, after 65, they have to re-certified every years, no matter how many years the being driving. As far that I'm concern it is totally ridiculous and show no kind of respect to the 65+ persons :biggrin_25513:

Pffft it is a good law, in your late sixties you rapidly become a better driver in your head than in real life. And by staying around you clog up job opportunities for young people.

You might get better answers in the Questions From New Drivers forums but I can tell you age won't be factor . The problem will be getting a worthwhile job . The low pay and poor working conditions a he training companies result in a very high turnover rate . Also read the Report a Bad Company Here forum
