I am 70 and just passed my DOT physical for my permit and will take the Colorado truck driving permit test in January. I plan on attending CDL College Truck Driving School in Aurora Colorado on March 2, 2012. I don't have any tickets, accidents, or drugs to worry about. I work out 6 days a week. Alternating between weights and running every other day. I feel like I am very fit and hope to apply to Stevens as soon as I enter school. Any suggestions as to which companies like the "mature" drivers would be appreciated.

Way to go Road, lets hear it for us "old guys", we rock.

  7. These are the posts I like to read. My uncle is 53 years old. He's been unemployed for the last eight years and I've watched his life deteriorate to almost nothing. This was a guy who lost a six figure job, stock options and real estate he worked 20 years for in just shy of a decade. I keep telling him to get in to trucking but he insists he's too old and nobody will hire him. I feel like trucking is one of those few businesses whe
re life experience out weighs youthful enthusiasm, and anyone who thinks they're too old aat 50 is insulting the quality drivers out there 10 or 15 years their senior.

Go for it! As long as you get your license and pass the dmv physical you are good to go. With your military and corrections service any company you apply with should be eager to employ you! Best of luck. Have a Happy New Year!:yes2557:
