Well with with 3 years under your belt, that makes you qualified to comment on other commercial drivers who are in there late 60'S, with 20 to 40 years of experience OTR? :biggrin_25513: Id hire them over you to drive my truck simply because of your attitude.

Oh my look at the seniors get their dander up!

Do I have to drive otr 20 years to be good driver? What a joke I did 5 years with a 38 ft straight truck delivering in downtown city cores accident free and I bet few otr highway runners would take that kind of day to day stress.
And yes I call them clogs. After 3 years in the patch I have little respect for the skills of a guy with 20 to 40 years driving dock to dock on highways ... They usually end up nicknamed "rollovers" out where I work.
I have no problem with a guy who is 65 and wants to run his retirement truck but guys who want to keep company driving almost to their 70's??? Really? Is this a good idea for ANYONE??????

It's just like electrician, do you think that when came out of school; you'll have the same experience and knowledge of some one who is doing the job for the last 35+ years?

Truck Drivers is actually the only job that you can get when you come out of school and get paid the same money than the guy who is doing for 35+ years, that is not normal!!!!

The worst thing that you can do when you reach 65 is doing nothing, you will die soon!

If you're in good shape why not keep rolling if it what you want, why being limited because you reach 65!

You say you drive for 5 years, well you just begin to have some experience, you're on the fisrt step of the stairs. :biggrin_25525:

Actually longer than that, i switched careers. But really that's not important.
My issue is still not answred and it is NOT like an electrician at all. What benefits do we get by allowing drivers to hold a cdl until 70 or further?? It is absurd as 40 to 50 years of safe driving experience is irrelevant as it all took place while you were not semi geriatric!!

Well for one thing it helps keep know-it -all rookies off the road and up in the "patch".

mgr. at macdonalds or timmys ??? i actually know quite a few of those... and the reasons.... ( stress level to high in the corporate world...too much travelling on private jets... lousy food at those 5 star hotels... jet lag flying all over the world) so lets go and set those dumb ##### in the trucking world... great try lollll

Under a free and democratic society, this fool has expressed his opinion as he is entitled to. Just remember that opinions are like A_ _ H_ _ _ _, everybody has one. Now back to the Cabbage Patch Junior.:biggrin_25523:

    Wow.
My career change was from faller to trucking groceries then working in the patch. No timmies so your sense of smug superiority can sniff my arse.

As to staying in the patch pfft happily earn 70k a year and sleep with my wife every night. Think about that while your out for weeks at a time at .48 a mile and someone else is sleeping with yours.

And for all the shots at me nobody has said once why we need 70 year olds driving rigs still instead of 20 year old drivers trying to get a foot in the door.
