i like the 29's if that worked good enough.... get another unless you want a bigger one.

29 LX looks nice and keeps the features of the old 29

Havn't been in the market for a radio in quite a few years, but the RCI 2950 has always done well. Properly set up will out perform most.
Just my experience, YMMV.

I like my connex. Radio's are really just personal preference. The 29 is a classic and the work horse in our industry for sure. Bigger radios are just more stuff to play with and sometimes more things to fix.
Mad Dog 20/20 Thanks this. -
2950 is a good radio
HOWEVER ...
Keep in mind that any NON CB or any radio that goes outside of the 40 ch CB band
you need to stay off the 12 meter ( 24.890-24.990 mhz ) or 10 meter ( 28.000 - 29.700 MHZ ) bands.
Anything else is fair game .... -
Uniden now makes a new radio
BEARCAT 880
I'll take your old 29, I have two that are dead and maybe I can salvage parts to make one?Attached Files:

Yep, good advice!
I'm assuming you know why your 29 is dead, therefore not worth fixing??? (As in an antenna problem didn't kill it. Wouldn't be good to hook a new radio up to a bad antenna!) -
To answer your original question. For a legal CB, the new Uniden or Cobra look cool. For an export, AM only, General Lee, if you want SSB, there a host of options, the one already mentioned being a good one.
Oops! meant to edit the above post instead of quoting it! That's what I get for trying to watch 007 while posting on the internet!!!1 lol -
From my personal experience.I would choose a Henway.
