Let's say you just got your own truck & 53' trailer..
If you hook onto someone like Landstar you obviously get loads from their load board, but are you allowed to take outside loads from other load boards? I mean say your going from Chicago, IL to Cleveland, OH, but they don't have a load from Columbus, OH to say Chicago, IL where you live, but some other load board does.. Are you allowed to take it?
Same question but with Schneider as the company.
Other.
If you get your own authority+have tags+insurance, and have your own truck/trailer where do you get your first load, and align it with a backhaul? Whats the best load boards? Do you check multiple load boards?

I'm a big fan of ITS. I like its features and easy update ability. As far as the backhauls go, I'm pretty sure you can. Your best bet would be to call both companies and see.

What is backhauls?

an excuse to pay less for a load.
American Truckerblacklabel and jbatmick Thank this. -
Oh ok, so it's a broker term. Never did quite relate to their terminology or way of thinking.

from my understanding its from back in the day before iregular route trucking was around. When carriers would haul local product out, then need a load coming back to their area to get another load (backhaul) which for some reason pays less then a regular load. I could be wrong but thats how i understand it to work.
someone feel free to correct me...

So a load labeled a backhaul is in essence a Balony load due to the driver will only afford some garlic balony and no showers when hauling these loads. So who gets all the money in the load? Does the money just disappear?

There is no such thing as a backhaul in our trucking business. They are all loads and we don't take low paying crap. Thats why we can drive the Large Car's.

Actually American Farm Lines in Oklahoma City won a law suit over what a backhaul was "not." They hauled govt. freight and explosives west to CA and Washington and farm products back to the midwest. The ICC sued them saying they had to haul farm products from the home terminal and they got i tthrown out. Soon we were hauling Class A both ways.
