No, it's not about "142 trucks"... It's about the 1420 Mexican trucks and more that will eventually be plying our highways... Once the Fed commits to a program, they don't back down and this won't be any different.

So, it's just "another brick in the wall" to quote Pink Floyd, in the eventual displacement of the American way of life... And simply put, a lot of people don't want them here...

Criminy, it's about WHO WE ARE in this country!

I have been a delivery driver for many years and deliverd to many minorities. I have been cussed out in Greek and Italian for bringing them
under and overripe produce. I say this from experiance. We have more
to fear from other minorities than the Mexicans. They tend to be the
most religious hard working little people I have ever delt with. Sure there
are bad ones out there but I see the good ones 5 days a week and they
    far outnumber the bad....

They used to say that the immigrants from Ellis Island didn't belong here, wonder where we would be if the bigots of yesteryear got their way?

Nobody would care if it was 142 trucks. This is a pilot program, which basically means a testbed for bigger things to come.

More factories in Mexico would mean less American trucks carrying chinese goods from California ports, and more Mexican trucks carrying mexican goods to American cities.

If what I read is true about China already having plans to open ports in Mexico, then it really is quite scary to see how all three countries have had what appears to be an overall gameplan in the works now for quite some time.

China gets to produce more crap and pay an army of peasants pennies an hour (not an exaggeration), ship these goods to Mexico, where Mexican truck drivers will deliver these goods for a lot less than their American counterparts, and in the end soccer moms across the US will save a few bucks. I guess thats a win/win. Well at least a win/win if your a chinese factory owner, a mexican trucking exec, or a soccer mom thats not married to a trucker.

Dude, you keep side-stepping the issue...

It doesn't matter if Mexicans are the hardest working, most religious "salt of the earth" people on the planet. I don't hate anyone, Mexicans included.

What I despise is the continual erosion of my way of life and the future threat that it poses my kids and grand kids...

    Go ahead, believe that "in the here and now" that this situation doesn't pose a threat. Fine. But consider the future. To wit;

We have turned a blind eye on illegal immigration for years. Employers and companies have exploited immigrants (legal and otherwise) to help increase their profit margin. Now there are some 12 million IAs in the country. Social services are being taxed to their limits, there is a contribution to crime (look at Newark!) and displacement of jobs that American citizens should be doing. (Putting unemployed American people to work would decrease the welfare rolls... what a concept!)

The problem? Now we can't get rid of them! The US government is helpless, the American people are getting fed up and the very people you seem to admire believe they have some "right" to be here... (Can you say La Raza and Mexicans Without Borders?)

Put a frog in a pot of water and slowly turn up the heat. He'll never know he's cooked until it's too late...

Poor historical parallel, a much different place and time. American society assimilated the immigrants in those times, not the other way around.

German cause America would no longer exist.....

Our unemployment is so low now there are fast food joints paying $10.
Main problem in this country is being lazy. Too many people don't
want to work. Thats what is slowing us down not the Mexicans.
Want to slow down the Mexicans? Secure our southern border.
Bush tried and lost congress as a result. Now Hillary has the Mexican
vote. Want to help the children of America? Secure our Borders
so the price of drugs get high enough that pushers can't afford to
give the drugs to children for free. I agree, illegal imagration is a problem.
We need cameras, barbed wire, electric fences, troops what ever it takes
to slow them down. But we have nothing to fear from free trade....
Our chicken and produce farmers are the best in the world. Lets
stop paying farmers not to plant and start sending food south.....
When I lived in Panama and the Philipines I learned that we
produce food better and cheaper than any where in the world.

Well I am all for the free trade argument, but not when it is unfair competition. I don't see anything concrete which demonstrates that Mexican truck drivers will have to undergo the same training, licensing, hos, drug testing, physicals, and safety regulations that Americans do.

This is from the link already posted on this thread. Mexican drivers will
have to undergo most of the regs American drivers do. There will be
problems. But I bet less problems for the first few years than Swift has
    now.
