I think most of those require about 5 years experience first..

Depends on the company and how fast you learn. Also depends on whether or not you are cut out for heavy hauling. Meaning no disrespect to you, but just like not everyone who gets a CDL is cut out for trucking, not all drivers, regardless of years of experience, are cut out for heavy haul.

I don't know of a set time limit on how long it takes to get into heavy haul. I think we discussed this on another thread not long ago. The first thing you need to do is get your CDL, if you don't already have it, and then get some driving experience. Most people start out in this business pulling a van. Those who want to expand their level of experience often move into open deck trailers starting with flats. From flats they may move to steps, then double drop or RGN and then multi axle equipment. You don't have to pull 15 axles around to do heavy haul. There is much more to doing over size and heavy haul freight than other types of freight. If this is something you want to do then you should expect to do it a step at a time. As you become more proficient you can move up to the next level.
