Before marten went regional rail on a sliding pay scale, that $54,000 was very possible. Not now.

At least you made it home. I'm wondering how many other Marten drivers were stuck all over the country in truck stops over Christmas and New Years with no load and very little money to live on since they're being cheated out of so much of their own money. What bafffles me is how long some of the drivers will stick around and put up with that kind of treatment.

I left Marten almost two years ago and returned to work at a previous employer. A MUCH better income while enjoying less stress- and NO per-diem pay all while I'm getting to drive a nicer truck too. Life is good!

E-mail me at satmantoo@yahoo.com and I'll email my phone number to you and in a couple weeks you will be working for the company I drive for. the last two years I've averaged $65,000 per year.

Thanks! But after 36 years of living in the trucking industry and nearly 11 yrs of driving one. I am feeling more like I need a career and life change. It truly a shame to see an industry that was great and for the most part respected by the public or people. Fall to the way side. I am not just another driver I am one of the kids of trucking. To those that understand. I am a 3 generation driver. Take care. This is the last post I am going to do.

Let me ask a question.... You know Christmas is coming. It comes every year, without fail. You know this. I'm not sticking up for Marten, I don't work there and will not, but this crying about "I have no money for Christmas" line of BS is really something. When do you take responsibility for not planning ahead? You know it's coming December 26 of the previous year!! And why does everyone get surprised about being lost in the shuffle at huge companies? You are a number like the other couple thousand drivers at that company. They aren't screwing you, they just really don't know you exist. It is what it is. They have their policies in place, and you or me or any other driver will not change them. Going through these posts and threads, there is a common thread between them all: I and all of my BS is so much more important than anybody else's and my company/ dispatcher/boss/ whatever should put up with everything and I will blame him/ her/ them because I wasn't smart enough to realize what I was getting myself into applying and accepting employment with said company. Learn to take responsibility. You not having Christmas gifts wasn't Marten's fault, it was yours. You failed to plan ahead, and it bit you on the ###.
