Keep us posted on how your truck is holding up. You're putting some serious miles on it and should know before too long if the new Ford diesel is a good one or not.

There are only a few reasons why I'm driving a Dodge CTD.
    1. The price, when I was shopping to replace my 2007 Ford PSD (great truck believe it or not) a 2011 F-350 DRW 2WD CrewCab was $52,000 MSRP and they weren't dealing much at the time.
    2. No manual transmission offered by Ford.
    3. Cummins Engine in the Dodge.
    4. Price part deux, I picked up my 2011 Dodge CTD DRW 4X4 CrewCab 6 speed manual for $32,000 with 17,000 miles on the odometer. It was traded in by a guy that was too lazy to shift and wanted a slushbox auto transmission.

I have always been a Ford guy, but I couldn't buy a truck that cost half of what my house and land cost. If these new Ford diesels turn out to be reliable, I'll start shopping for a good deal on a used one in a couple years.

I am recently getting very interested in transporting RV's.I work for a major airline right now and plan on flying back home free. If I can't go my airline I'll get a major discount fare on another. I will have to pay some cab fare, but it shouldn't be to much compared to how much I can make.
I am full time right now, I could go part time at the airline and even give away shifts and have Mon-Fri off.
    I have a CDL-A used to drive semi's for 9 year in the 90's.

    First thing.

ALL COMPENSATED TIME has to be recorded on the log book. So when you are working at the airline, it will have to be recorded on the available 70 hours that a driver can work.

Second, there are many towns that are delivered to that there is no air service there. May be 50 or so miles up the road.

I posted my last post to see what someone would say about it. Having to long "other compensated time" is something I didn't think about. I am sure many truck driver have other businesses on the side, maybe they work on the farm. Do they log their work at home? I don't think so. I know airline pilots that transport rv's. they don't log their flight time in their CDL log. Should they? yes
As far as the dealerships 50 miles from town goes, I can pick and choose my loads. They have 13,000 loads a month so I'll choose one that goes to a larger city. I'm only required to do one a month.

Wow! so why did you come on here?? you asked for advice, and were giving it by a professional, and now your being rude to them, I was going to give you some advice but I guess you already know everything.

As for logging ALL your work time, that is the law, weather or not you obey it is up to you.

So do whatever you want, its obvious you don't want advice.

    Roadmedic Thanks this.

When I check their log book, they had better put that time down as on-duty, or they can get shut down for a false log.

    rldavis Thanks this.

How do you prove that they worked at the airline or whatever their other job is and didn't log it as on-duty ???

They have to show logs for the past 7 days . Too much off duty time is suspicious and is log falsification which is a felony . RV Transport companies get audited like all other carriers . Too many gaps off duty is a red flag . A driver's application in his driver's file will show other employment .
