I have a 2010 cascadia and im getting horrible mileage. My load is barely 25k goin thru iowa and nebraska only getting 5.7 mpg. The truck needs an alignment and I know that affects fuel mileage some, but ive been thru the area many times before in 2 different trucks pullin much heavier loads and averaging near 8mph. I drive very conservativly...the,cruise control is helping a little but not much and it almost seems like I lose speed goin down small hills. The truck sat for the better part of the last six weeks and supposidly had a 200 point inspection, runs great, good power just awful mpg. Im worried if icant get good mileage out here whats gonna happen when I hit mountains...any ideas would be great.

Is this a different trailer than when you were getting better mileage?

5.7MPG isn't all that bad in colder weather. Getting 8 is super and almost unheard of in cold weather... unless your a nucklehead driving 55 on all interstates and taking hills in Iowa at 35MPH on the interstates.

if Iowa has the wind that we have in Illinois today i can see the bad mileage.
today we have winds from the west 12-18 mph with gust of 40-45 mph

yeah headwinds or side winds will kill your fuel economy in a hurry I've noticed.

Just turn around and go the way the wind is blowing. Tell dispatch it was recommended by the "safety" dept.

As long as they're paying for the fuel it's their problem:biggrin_2559:

I have an '09 ProStar, and I usually get around 8.5 - 9 with a fairly light load.

I have 14k on this trip, but was only getting around 4.5 mpg through KS yesterday due to the high winds.
