I was not a commercial driver, drove a van that was dispatched to pickup railroad employees at trains or freight yards and take them to their next assignment. However after i was released from the company, the manager that released me was trying to keep me from finding a job, saying I was after her job and if the hiring person was not careful i would be after their job. The difference in work ethic and past training was a misunderstanding between the 2 of us, and caused my release of duty ( I am from NY and this job was in OK)
Check your state laws, well the state you actually work from. and see if they allow past employers to undermine your career. Here they do not allow any information except hire day, length of employment, will they rehire you, and what your pay rate was. that is it. Not if you showed up on time, stayed late, busted your butt working for them, etc just the 4 things listed. If they give any information that is not allowed by law to keep you from getting other employment they can be held accountable for your not finding a job at the highest rate of pay you had with them.

Quick question, I had a pre-hire with a company and I found out they do hair follicle testing so I told them I can pass a urine test but not a hair follicle test I recieved a letter today from the company stating the DOT regulation on it, but wondered if this would end up in my DAC report and potentially make me un-hireable for any company I apply for.

I've only had a hair follicle test for employment done once in my life and it wasn't for a driving job. What is the regulation requiring a hair test? First I've heard of it. -
What does the law say about a defect found during roadside inspection that happened in transit? Does it still count pts on CSA? If driver shows he/she knew about it and was on his/her way to have it fixed (and didn't pass any repair shop)can he/she avoid those points?
-
One more question, if headlight goes out in transit (driver did pre-trip and found no defect but can't prove) what argument can driver use to challenge points on CSA?
