March 30th Class in Georgia

Old school; do you hear anything? I am considering Millis myself. I need to KNOW!

 

Hey Crusty, I'll be starting in the Cartersville class for Millis this Jan 9th. I will say this, I'm not one to go into something blindly and I've done a lot of reading and research about different trucking companys. From everything I've been finding out Millis is one of the best companys out there. I even ran into an ex employee of Millis and he even said it was one of the better outfits out there. He's no longer a driver and I didnt want too pry but I think he just didn't want to be on the road and away from home. At least that's what I got out of our conversation. If I can help you in anyway I will but just starting out I'm pretty ignorant on any and all subjects concerning trucking. Best of luck to you.

 

Hey, old school. Good stuff to hear. If you have the time; post when you get out of classroom and start the ' Millis 500 '. I may cruise over to the 'track' and kibitz a little. Nothing like getting a 'feel' for things. I only live about 30 min. away across HWY. 20.

 

Long story..........
Had a good knowledgeable trainer......but no patience
He was the one who wanted too much home time. Every weekend
Wanted a new trainer but offered another job AND had to put out some "fires" at home.
Advice:
Stick it out no matter what
Trust in your trainer(it is his life also at risk) so listen
Tell him when you get tired
Stand up for yourself but your trainer holds the "keys" to your career so don't get attitudinal
Leave your personal "baggage" at home. Every one has some
Man up.......you asked for this career
Wish I had not left in retrospect but Millis is a good company in all.

Thanks for getting back to us. A company can be a good one but there are still different personalities working for that company. Until a person finds themselves in a situation you really don't know what we would do. The older I get the more I try not to let the small stuff get to me. Just have to keep the bigger picture in front of me. All the best to you going forward.

hi bible wanted to know was you still at millis and do they have team drivers. my hubby and i was thinking abut going to work there he will attend there schol and i was goimg to get my cdls from another school the WIA will pay for. also do teams there get good mile what is the average

Sorry but Millis does not hire teams... It was tried out but we just don't have the steady work for a team operation to make a good profit. Only teams are students & trainers!

 

how is every thing going do u happend to know the start pay once you are done with training and do they hire teams also do they pay you while in school
