Everyone should know their own limits. Scott brings up a good point.... I would bet that driving 8 hrs in a major city would be too much for some... while others may be fine doing it for 12 hrs... and some might be ok doing it for 16.
We do have brains, if we get too tired... we CAN stop, no matter what ANYONE expects.
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

I am having a hard time understanding how a carrier can force anyone to drive at any time. I have been at this for 3 decades, and when I couldn't drive safely, I had no problem letting someone know. Even today, due to mixups at 2 pickups yesterday and last night, I could not make the 1200 time to deliver. I let them know that I could make it at 1400. They changed the delivery time with no complaints.
I have never had any problems before, due to the fact that I communicate any situation as far in advance as I can. This gives the office people plenty of time to make adjustments. I have never been terminated, as a company driver or as an O/O, for not taking it in the rear by any carrier. I have been at each carrier an average of 8 years. I only left each carrier to move on to better opportunities, and only left one because they were starting to get stupid.
The only requirement in life is that you eventually have to die. Nothing else. While there may be consequences for choosing not to do something, no one can force you do anything. Even the government cannot force you to pay taxes. They may lock you up, but they can't force you to pay.RickG, G/MAN, Panhandle flash and 1 other person Thank this. -
Oh YEAH all in agreement that CSA and ELOGS are the way to govolvodriver01 Thanks this. -
I figured it would be you to quote me... Them cell phones sure are distracting aren't they? -
So, CSA is a good thing???? With the safety rating system they have and allowing us practically no defense, very soon roads will have a decrease of more experienced drivers and an increase of new inexperienced ones because DOT will be giving us all kinds of warnings for the most insignificant "violations" and we will take it because we will have no way to fight it... I see...
Roadmedic Thanks this. -
Welcome to the communist movement basically called slavery. Restrictions lead to control; control leads to dictatorship, etc. Guess what happens when an air way is restricted long enough. ***** Funny thing is that when working in a shipyard there is two breaks and lunch....Why do they treat truck drivers so badly???

Trying to contact FMCSA is BIG challenge.... This is government for you/us. I think FMCSA has removed link to DataQ to challenge inspections. Those SOBs!! I tried a search, got nothing, tried to call but all phone numbers they have end nowhere.. but they do have automated msgs in freaking Spanish... I hope with next administration these clowns in Washington are thrown out! And some necessary changes can be done to CSA! I didn't leave a socialist/marxist country for THIS $#*&!! in the United States of America.... If anybody here knows how to get to that DATAQ, PLEASE, post info here. Thx.
