I know of some loads out of the midwest to OK and TX, one pays 3.74 and the other 4.02 a mile. simple loads, 2 pcs, no tarp about 36000 lbs, several of each load every week. They are not brokered out because they require $500,000 cargo insurance and most 1 truck operators don't have it.

Hot shot work is what i was talking about in my other post $4 a mile on a stepdeck load ONE WAY LOADED MILES and go they are waiting on you than dead head home thats why i needed a change if you want to haul $4 or more call Acme i got it all the time some over size loads i got over $6 a mile but they dont have hauls back home and you can not use a load board for freight you just suck it up and drive home so in the real world i was not even doing $2 a mile and any load over 300 miles you had to shut down for being out of hours so would take you days to do it
I was hauling loads out of houston,tx up to rifle,co back in 06 my take home was $4,800 a load and i was the only driver that would do it all the other drivers said i was stupid that they could do that much staying around houston and wouldnt burn half the fuel i was it was taking me 4 days to run up there and back leave monday come back thursday head back out friday and do it all over again so one week i would make $4,800 next week i would make $9,600 and then $4,800 the next
