Just left a great cb shop, I-40 exit 126, Tennessee. Guy was on CH. 20 and diagnosed my problem before I ever got to the exit. Got it fixed in 1E5 mknutes and back on my way

Imagine that..Crash...and he was only a few miles away from your home 20. Some of us should be so lucky to have a good shop so close to home.

Welcome there...it looks like you might be new around here.

There are several good shops between Memphis and Nashville on I-40. Exit 43 (Swampdog), Exit 126, Crash's choice, and Exit 163 CB Shop, they've been there many years-open 24/7/365. My favorite, however, is Ray's in West Memphis. Heard good things about the others, but can vouch for Rays, personally.

Yep I'll vote for Ray as well. Know too many drivers that used him for years with great results. That and the tech I use says he is almost as good as he is!:biggrin_255:

Well who do you use??? I'm in the Springfield Mo area and down towards West plains often. Could use a good tech close by.

i have been using ray only for the last 15 years, top shelf technician over 30 years experience. funny you should mention swapdog though, ray lives down the road from there and has been known on a regular basis to p/u radios from swampdog that he cant fix in the morning, bring them to west memphis to rays shop and fix them, then drop them off at swampdogs on the way home. just a little inside knowledge. i have had dealings with the 163, we wont go there, had to take it to ray to get it fixed after they played with for 2 weeks. ray fixed it in 15 mins. any how just my .02 worth.

I purchased a galaxy 33hp2 from a shop in Petal, MS on hwy 11. I told them what I needed and wanted in a radio and he recommended a connex 3300. It had a flashy faceplate that I didn't care for and no other faceplate for it. I asked for a general Washington, no luck. Then he mentioned galaxy. I was sold about 2 seconds after it left the box. He peaked and tuned and mounted with astatic noise cancelling mic and tax for what I found on the Internet w/ shipping and a stock mic. Many coworkers have purchased from them years ago and still using the cb w/o repair.

country29, I think you are right on the money about Ray, and Swampdog is actually at Exit 42, not 43. He is across from the Pilot in the yellow railroad caboose. I realized my mistake as I went by there this morning. At least swampdog will get your radio fixed -one way or another.

I have talked to swamp dog a lot or the years and he will tell you that him and ray are best friends. If swamp dog can't fix it he will send it to ray and tell you that he is sending it there. At least swamp dog is honest. He peak and tune a radio for me year ago and I wire it wrong (power wires) so I stop at a different shop and they told me the radio was no good and tried to sell me a brand new general for $600. Need to say swamp dog fixed it five mins no charge. So all of my radios go to him now

Another vote for Ray. Nothing fancy, no wall of equipment to do stuff that no one can tell has been done, just honest work.
