Landstar gives you two comdata cards, mainly in the case you have a driver or need a card at home for the wife. Most guys just use one like myself, why complicate things? $5500 take home, huh. What kind of RGN do you own? That's very possible with specialized equipment, even more possible and probable if you are including your fuel in that $5500, if you are a go-getter.

I'm in the process of qualifying for LS and i'm kind of concerned about the attitude im getting.
I have 27 years of accident free deck experience,my truck and trailer are a year old,no tickets, claims or accidents,2 jobs in 16 years and no drug issues.
They refuse to call me and insist that i call them for progress reports but when i do they act annoyed like i'm being a nuisance.
I understand they must be very busy and i'm always very patient and courteous when i call but they act like they couldnt give a flying #### if i lease on or not and they act almost indifferent towards me.
Is this the standard attitude at LS in all departments or just recruiting?
I'm quitting a ten year job to go there and im starting to think i'm making a mistake, anyone have any feedback re their experiences while hiring on with LS?
Thanks in advance! -
I'm not with LS,but I think they outsource the application process.

Been in a few truck stops and talked to a couple landstar guys and they went into detail about their experiences and seem pretty happy.one guy weighted about 400 lbs so they must get paid pretty good .

Don't give up. Just keep at them. There are bad apples everywhere. Overall, Landstar is a great group of people.

Quick question , whats the avg, income per week on a avg, of 2500 miles weekly with LS? ... i am on a purchase of a truck true a dealer and trying to make my number , thanks to all of our drivers to make america successful

There is no average. You are in charge of making it work, there are no dispatchers, fleet managers, load planners, etc. Take a cheap load into FL and one out and your average won't be good. Pulling a step, I averaged 2.12 per mile on the odometer, but I've been doing this a long time, and sit until I get my rate, sometimes a week or two when I'm home, or I'll dead head out of a bad area in a NY minute. I had multiple 1000 mile deadheads which influenced my average. I will say if you're pulling vans, it can be tough here, especially in FL. In the Midwest, that's a different story.

Can anyone tell me if they have health insurance?
-
They do not have health insurance for BCO's or Agents. If they did, it would require them to claim us as employees and pay taxes on us. We're all independent contractors and insurance is on our own. It's unfortunate the agents and bco's alike can't combine into a conglomerate of sorts and get discounted health insurance with group buying power.drag'nfly Thanks this.

That might be the one thing that will prevent me from signing on with them. Buying health insurance on my own for myself and my family is probably not something I can afford. My wife could get insurance from her job, but it's crap and it would take a year to get it. Can anyone give me any ideas here or am I just sol?
