Here is my story with JBS: Everything started off nicely during the hiring process with a plane trip out to Denver and picked up in a stretch Hummer limo. The hotel wasn't the best; pizza and pop for every lunch during orientation was barely edible. Class participation dropped rapidly due to drivers not being able to pass the DOT physical. I was immediately flown for a truck retrieval upon which time I had to use my money for hotel, food and cab and was only reimbursed at a 50% rate. I've given it my all for the best part of a year but still have not been able to get the miles I was promised upon hire. 3500 miles every 2 weeks is totally unacceptable. I have tried running dedicated for JBS and still ended up sitting from a Friday through a Tuesday and only got paid $180 for layover/detention. Have averaged the money made to-date and it comes up to @ $10.00 per hour - unbelievable as I don't have any problem staying out on the road for 5 weeks at a time. I just turned in my notice only to find out that they have no desire to get their drivers home if it doesn't all work out (no bus ticket, no gas money, nothing). If you don't wish to make any money other than just surviving, and don't mind sitting constantly waiting for loads, then this just might be the employer for you. Don't be duped by empty promises that will not be fulfilled. Be aware of what you are signing up for.

Wow. So much for a midsized carrier's good rep. They actually look good on paper, but as i've said before, it does not mean you will bank it good.

Feel bad for you, Terry. Such a shame! There's a hot place in hell waiting for some of these guys. Hope your year of experience lands you something worthwhile in the very near future. Don't despair! You have a decent track record by now (1 year, I assume). That means alot and should open many, many doors previously closed to you!

I thought they took care of their own? I know they crap on the contractors.

Your problem could of been the dispatcher you had. I don't have a clue who you are. But I will comment many 1 year drivers haven't figured out the attitude thing yet. A bad relationship starts small and grows as the miles drop.

We regional drivers at jbs only get 3200 to 3900 every 2 weeks, but we get .45cpm and off every weekend. Having to deal with heb, walmart, etc etc every day- 6 days a week will give you a bad attitude. Lot of hrs sittin everyday w/out pay and with elogs that's a pain in the arse! As far as runnin otr can't comment on that part, only what I have heard from several otr hands, all sayin same thing while I'm p/u my yard bird at pilgrims. Low miles, night dispatch not ans.phone or qcom mssgs, not getting home on time 4 very important events,to much time to del or p/u loads, not paying practical miles instead of book miles(even those are short). My office team for regional is great but dealing with the only shipper we have and grocery warehouses everyday is enough to piss anyone off, especially loosing 200 miles a week when u only get 1800 to 2000 anyway,I have to deal with that and that alone for ME is reason to look elsewhere.
