Sorry to hear they didn't accept your app. Check with the tech school to find out what companies recruit from the classes and start doing your homework to see if any of them interest you. I know most people dog them but JB Hunt isn't that bad of a company. If you're a good driver and hard runner you could probably do well there. They have several dedicated accounts. Like L.B. said, Averitt is a good possibility. When I lived in GA I drove for Ryder Dedicated for over a year. They were a good company at the time.

 

Wow RubberDucky, I feel your pain Bro. I don"t know, but have you thought of calling Mike Millis himself and selling yourself to him. I know it has been accomplished at other places although I haven't heard of it being attempted here. You have been around here since I first found this thread and you strike me as intelligent and articulate. You just may pull it off. Either way Good Luck

 

I have seriously considered it but I may get so nervous talking to him that I may have a loss for words. There is no doubt in my mind that I would be a great asset to the company. Believe me, I was heart broken when I was told that.

I am in no way bitter and would go work for them tomorrow if they called me. I will give it some thought over the weekend and if I can come up with some intelligent way of expressing my desire to work for Millis I may give it shot. All they can say is no.

By the way, just because I did not get chosen for class does not mean I am going away. I will still be hanging around the Millis forum seeing how things are going for you guys and cheering on the new drivers (and being secretly jealous ).

 

As my Dad always said.....for every one door closed, serveral others will open. Keep us posted on what you do and stay with us no matter where you end up. Always enjoy your posts!

I just got off the phone with another Millis driver, won't say who for privacy matters, but he said I should call and try and find out exactly why I was turned down. I would like to know myself. So between him and Mojo's advice I will probably give them a call tomorrow and see what I can find out. I will post what comes out of the phone conversation.

 

RD, if you really want it, go after it. I also was turned down, again for reasons completely unknown to me, but I persisted and now will be in the Feb 6th class. I didn't call Mike or anything and frankly would not advise it. However, I found that Fay was real easy to talk to and if you can make your case, will go to bat for you. Good luck, Duck.
