C'mon people wake up. Who in their right mind or didn't know any better would want to run teams during the winter with a stranger with very little experience for a meat grinder like CRST? I guess there is some people in desperate situations out there.

The fact that they make you pay your way so they can make money off you should have you running away from them.

CRST PROVIDED a rental car to orientation for us, but yes you do have to pay it back.

They are not a bad company, but they will not hire me back after getting off the truck with my trainer.

ANYWAYS, good luck, and have fun.

ppl need to judge for themselves. you don't know till you try for yourself. crst has got to be better than swift, werner, england, or may.

A Driver at May does not have to pay for their transport to the company nor for the Hotel which was the best I stayed at since I started driving in the early 90's. You also do not pay for the UA's and physical either. You start out at $500 a week while in training as a student which will most likely be for a couple of weeks unless you have problems taking a road test. Then get paid .30 a mile up to 34.5 by the end of one year. Most experienced drivers start out at .36 with a penny raise each year.

I no longer work for May but even mentioning May in the same sentence with the likes of Swift,England,Werner, or CRST is, well laughable>:biggrin_25525:

I didn't have to pay them back for the rental car. And they reimbursed me for my fuel. CRST has treated me really well so far. Im halfway through my 8 month contract, miles are good. Have to sit in some ###### spots sometimes (miami, Laredo) but I see drivers from all companies sitting right along with me. I've heard plenty of bad things even from other company drivers, but my experience has been good. I get along with my FM, that helps a lot Im sure.

may ian't the best company out there. in fact there isn't a best company. you have to find the right company for yourself, the one company who will treat you right. whether it is may, swift, werner, england, or crst. that's what i'm in the market for myself

Since my last post I can offer a little more now. CRST is really every bit as bad as they say it is. Actually suspended me for refusing to haul an illegal load. Refused to fix a leak in my air brakes until I shut it down and refused to move another inch. You cannot get service for your equipment, you cannot expect to run safe or legal. And you most definately can under no circumstances ask questions that may prove you are right. The rule there is (and yes I was suspended over this rule)...."If the safety guy says it's good to go you haul it ask no questions. If a problem occurs it is his responsibility...." YEA RIGHT!!!! The DOT is going to hand him my ticket because I said he said to do it anyway?

You will not get home on time. Then they will call and give you a hard time over taking 5 days off. I have got qualcomm messages while I am off the truck telling me I was fired over the suspension. Yet when I call in they deny it and canot find those messages.

They will get their 8 months.....not 5 seconds more! This is the kind of company that makes drivers retire before they ever got a chance to see the good in this business. Honestly if I didnt have so many friends and family in it I would be questioning my choice very hard right now. But hey, live and learn right?

There is a VERY easy way to handle problems like these.
Next scale you cross, pull around back and ask the scalemaster to contact DOT and why. However BEFORE you do so, make sure you have EVERY known defect written in your inspection book and noted that the company refused to repair it. On a seperate peice of paper list WHO you spoke to, what time etc. a DOT officer will come out if one is available and if the repair is serious, he/she will put the truck out of service until the carrier repairs it. AND any associated fines will be issued to the carrier, not the driver. If you drive a truck that you know is not safe and something happens, the carrier is going to deny all knowledge when an accident occurs and you will be left holding the bag. Always always cover your own butt!!!
