Hey everyone, HELLBlLLY here introducing myself. Not actually a trucker, (not yet anyways), but real excited to become one. The idea had never really crossed my mind before but I've been scanning CL a lot looking for jobs to help supplement my income and it finally dawned on me that 2-3 of every 10 job postings were for CDL A drivers. That's when the bug took root and I've been doin' nothing but researching schools, looking at trucks, and browsing TTR and I gotta say that reading TTR has only "nurtured" the bug and made me want to become a trucker even more. As for me, I'm a Christian man, ( "HELLBlLLY" is more of an ironic moniker), 27 years old and have a 4 1/2 month old baby girl. Anything else you wanna know or if you just feel like talking let me know. I'm a pretty open guy.

    KEEP ON KEEPIN' ON

Welcome to TTR. Trucking is a great career choice for you. Although, it will be really tough on you with a new daughter around.

    HELLBlLLY Thanks this.

Thanks for the welcome dogknot. I know it will be tough and that's why I'm gonna spend every minute at home holding my little girl and I'll have so many pictures I'll probably need a photo album! And yes, if I need to live without having other items, I'll always have room for pictures of my baby.

Welcome Hellbilly, Good Luck on starting your new career. I got the bug for trucking about three months ago. Finished CDL School and now starting orientation on Monday.

    HELLBlLLY Thanks this.

Thanks LLL. What school did you decide to go to? Private or through a company? I've been doing A LOT of research lately in schools and it seems like going through a company is a BAD way to go. Let me know your thoughts.

I went with a private school mainly because they were in commuting distance of my home. Four week (160 hr.) program. I was a little disappointed in seat time driving the trucks, but guess it was sufficient to pass the CDL. Otherwise I really enjoyed the school (HDS Truck Driving Institute of Tucson). Also before I started school I decided on two Compnaies to drive for and applied on line. That way I had a couple of prehires before I started school. Hope this helps you.

    HELLBlLLY Thanks this.

Definitely helps, I hadn't thought of getting a few previews first. Probably a smart idea for me. I have a decent job now. So-so pay, so-so benefits, but it's better than a lot of people right now and I was a little anxious about taking the risk of leaving it and praying that I would find a driving job.

    * prehire, not preview. Stupid autocorrect.
