I found this on a current news article from Fox News sire regarding the law suit in Cali over fuel standards. "Even so, the regulations have the support of the large and powerful American Trucking Association."
Even though many drivers cant afford a new truck or the thousands of dollars needed to update their old trucks to comply with this purposed rule and if passed,it would most likely be the death of the independent trucker.
So i checked out ATA's website and found this."ATA has proposed requiring that all new heavy trucks be equipped with speed limiters and supports a government proposal to test the use of on board recorders"
Then from the same site. "Bill Graves (ATA President and CEO) , as a former governor of Kansas, is a trusted leader, with a track record of putting trucking's interests first."
So,whose interests is he putting first here, the trucker or the big trucking companies?
All of you remember this the next time you meet one of those people from the ATA at a truck stop who say that they only have your best interests in mind! If you have ever questioned who these people are really working for, then this should answer that question for you!
The ATA works for you!

?????? . Who ever thought ATA was for the driver ? When did you ever see anybody from the ATA at a truckstop ?
The speed limiter proposal is old news . They tried to petition that to NHTSA over 5 years ago and it got shot down . -
The ATA works for you!....The ATA works for you?

Big business at work

The ATA is not the driver's or the small time operator's friend. Never has been, never will be. They are for the big companies and themselves. Anybody tell's you it ain't so is in the ATA's trick bag.

Bill Graves was a joke when he was Gov of KS, and will always be a joke. His interests are with 1. Himself, 2. The big industry dollars, 3. Himself. Graves Trucking, yeah right... He's from the same mold as good ol' Kathryn S. A couple of b-lickers that we were glad to see leave the state.

I saw this article on my phone, and wondered, is there any more than the speed limiter and electronic recorders? Correct me if I am wrong, but all trucks have a speed limiter when they are built, right? and even without regulation, wont most trucks be using electronic logs soon enough?
Am I missing something? -
ATA tried to have all speed limiters set at 68 m.p.h. . Now whose trucks do you see speeding in MI pulling Kroger trailers ? Pat Quinn favors speed limiters so much maybe he should limit his USX trucks running in MI to 60 m.p.h.

Uh...ATA claims to be for the driver but i have known better for years that they were not. My post was for those who do not know this.
I have seen more than a few of them at big city trucks stops all around the country wanting to talk to drivers about this and that. You never stop for fuel?
The speed limiter is not old news. They have been working on this non stop on this for years. The little black boxes and speed limiters on every truck, both Owner Op and company truck alike are being pushed behind the scenes by these clowns right now.
