Do they have training in Georgia after you get your CDL? I have not checked into them.
Watkins Shepard is still on my short list. Training is in NC. I can deal with that. Only thing that worries me about them is I read on here where two guys got set up for orientation and got called at shortly before going and told not to come because "not enough trucks". If I got approved and set up for orientation with them, gave my notice at work and quit then got that kind of call, holy cow. I would be furious. So that made me a little nervous about them. Not saying their bad or anything.

Well I see Schneider has Athens Tech as an approved school on their list. Picture this...me driving a pumpkin!

The not enough trucks thing can happen in MILLIS too. In millis's case they keep you on a trainers truck until one opens up. It doesn't make sense to have trucks just laying around.

I completely understand that but if a company tells someone to come on for orientation I think they should at least be paving the way to have a truck ready. Sounds like they "assumed" one might be available when they offered the invitation to orientation.

Check out the Watkins/Shepard threads, they dont train but they dont put a trainer in your truck for months either. There's two points of view on that, but didn't seem to be alot of issues with them.
Good Luck RD! Before you know it I'll be seeing you out there somewhere!

there ya go, bub. When one door closes, another opens.

Yeah, I have kept an eye on them for a while now. They were one of the top two picks. I kind of like the short orientation/no trainer deal but I know it is advantageous to have an experienced driver with you as well.

You can check with Crete. Your school has to be on their website for them. You'd do your pre qual at the Marrietta term then go out with a trainer then do their 2 day orientation in Lincoln where you upgrade to solo.
To the Millis drivers, sorry for the hijack, just trying to help a future driver out.

I sort of hijacked it too. Sorry.

Agree witht that! Any and everything passed on with trainer can only help!
