Time to "Shift Gears"

Hey all,

Well, after 32 years in Law Enforcement, I am winding down my career.

I still have about 6 months to go before I am completely out, but I can see the finish line.

In the meantime, I am looking forward to attending Truck School in April and embarking on a new adventure in the Trucking Industry shortly thereafter.

There is some trucking background in my family,as both my late father and my brother have been truckers in the past. My father loved it until he passed. My brother only stepped down to raise his young family.

It seems like a natural progression for me and I am looking forward to the challenges, adventures, stories and meeting new people. All that the industry has to offer, both the good as well as the sometimes not so good.

After 32 years in LE, I understand what good and bad times as well as challenges are all about.

I am finding this site very informative and helpful. With the useful information I find here, I won't feel completely blind going into this adventurous profession.

I am hoping despite all the negative I hear, that there are drivers out there who really enjoy what they are doing. I would enjoy hearing the good as well.

My belief is that if you love what you do, you will never "work" a day in your life. If you hate what you do, it's like a life sentence.

You're exactly right. There is an interesting parallel.

Typically, we only hear about the bad ones and the unhappy, disgruntled ones are the most vocal.

Meanwhile, the quiet majority go about doing what they love to do.

This is a great site and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.
