Marine68,
Thanks for your service!
I am currently looking at truck schools in the Seattle area and am considering CDS on my short list.
I have a couple questions about them...for any of you attending or researching the school.
Does the school have accomodations/hotels, etc. locally available for students at a decent rate?
They appear to have large size classes. Did that prove to be detracting from the learning environment or do they provide good quality time for each student?
Do the instructors make themselves available and approachable should a student need a little extra help along the way?
Is the equipment quality? Current, clean, well maintained?
Do the Washington DOL examiners conduct testing on site for your CDL?
How would you rate the school overall and the attitude of the entire staff?
Also looking at Trans Union in Tacoma. Any thoughts or input on them? I like their smaller calss sizes.
Thanks -

Thanks for the info. jdsouza! I am going to make a trip down to see them and check the school out. From what I can tell, overall, it seems the place to go in the NW.

Step one, I went down to CDS today to check it out. I was welcomed by the friendly front office staff and promptly introduced to the school director.
I was very impressed with his candor and enthusiasm.
I did not feel pressure and was even encouraged to check out the competition. (Already have done that. Been scouring schools and programs for months.)
He answered all of my questions, gave me a tour of the facility and allowed me to hop into one of the trucks.
I was amazed at all they offer, not only during training, but long after as well.
The facility is nice, the equipment in good shape and the staff very friendly.
That was it. My short list of schools was reduced to one.
So, CDS it shall be!!!
Next step, selecting my class date and preparing to get busy learning.
Anyone looking at schools, be sure you check CDS out before you decide! -
Yea that is great I failed my backing on the dol rest and dion is making sure I get more time to practice and I will pass this week CDs Is great

They seem very dedicated to helping everyone pass. I'm sure you'll do just fine. I know there will be plenty of cone casualties when I get at it. Just sitting in that thing was intimidating!
Best of luck! Keep me posted.
