Check out Maverick. On the flatbed side we are home almost every weekend.
On the reefer side, I think you are out a bit longer...but check us out!:yes2557:

I'm almost at the 6 month mark. I have a love/hate relationship with otr. I love the travel and not running the same route every day/week, but I hate being out 4 weeks at a time. I'd love to be home every other weekend or...saints preserve us...home every weekend. Gotta finish my year then I'm looking. I got a few companies in mind I have talked to drivers of, maverick is one of them.

OTR is like that woman that drives you nuts, but you can't live without. It's the sickness and the cure.

There are companies out there that even new drivers can drive for and be home every other weekend and a few every weekend. If your at a company that you stay out 4-5 weeks and it's not your choice......look around you'll find one to get you home every other weekend or every 2 weeks .

Stick it out bud and get your year in that's what I'm doin .I'm at swift and it's all of what you make of it and believe me low pay and office people who don't give a crap can make it frustrating but in the end it will pay off in a dedicated or regional with good pay.

Tough out that first year, my friend. Then you'll have the bull by the horns. Meanwhile, get your hazmat and tanker endorsements.

You are in an excellent location. Lots of opportunity for a local driving job: Tanker, both liquid and dry bulk, with or without hazmat, oil field, dump, logs, chips, refuse, just to name a few.
