Just to clear things up.... I-70 runs thru the Eisenhower Tunnel NOT over Vail pass. Vail is on US Hwy 6.

The tunnel is actually higher than Vail is at it's summit... the Ike is 11,016 IIRC and Vail is about 10,600 ft.

Just wanted to clear that up...

Company never gave me a dispatch going that way. Out west I was always on 10.

Sounds like I missed some beautiful country!

The one time I COULD have run 70 from West of Denver, I chose to run US 50 instead because it was less miles to where I was going. I prefer the 2-lanes anyway.:yes2557:

I 70 does run over Vail Pass. That is why at the top ON I70 there is a sign that says Vail Pass Summit.

Here is a pic of my first truck at the top of Vail Pass on I70.

The tunnel bypass is Loveland. You still go over Vail.

I think you should go for it...Coming from FL it probably sounds scarier than it is...I have SS drives and was all over that area last winter with no problems...

The best thing is to just go for it, it's not as bad as your thinking, just go slow and take your time, but you need to get your cherry popped sooner or later. Good luck.
