Yes, Thank you very much. Wife and son are much better and everything is on the up swing. Like I said I never question my gut feelings, I may not have a clue at the time but I listen and it works.

Moose1833 I am so sorry I didn't mean to highjack your thread, talk to your trainer and if that doesn't work call your FM. Don’t let too much time pass without you driving. It is your time and your future, protect it.

There are a lot of good trainers at prime; but there are some that are just looking out for themselves and the extra money. This is true with any company and every job, trucking or not.

Good luck and stay with it.

There is supposed to be a progression in driving hours. No night driving in the beginning. The Fleet manager isnt supposed to be putting the truck on tight delivery times.

No student should get thrown into an 11 hour drive situation. There are rough guidelines for PSD instructors on driving hours for students.

I didnt get any backing practice before I left. I did get a couple hours shifting bobtail around the industrial park with my instructor.

We didnt leave Springfield under load. We got sent Bobtail to Wabash in Indiana to pick up a brand new trailer. My instructor, started the shift and after an hour we swapped. I was very proud I did the I44 to I70 medium traffic hour in St. Louis.

Probably did 4-5 hours that first day, and my instructor increased my drive time daily from there. It was maybe two weeks before I did a full 11. My instructor was quick to point out how dull you become near the end of your shift. Not quite as alert. etc. Know the signs of fatigue.

We did probably 10 hours the entire 4 weeks out of strictly backing for test skills in truckstops and truckparking areas.

It wasnt until after I got my CDL that he started letting me back into customer doors.

It makes me sad when we have crappy instructors and trainers.

It enfuriates me that the first thing most fleet managers say to a guy that isnt making any money... "Have you thought about becoming a trainer or an instructor?"

Sazook would be a great one for info on this subject.

Howeve,r Sazook is currently on a 18 hour train ride to Romania right now.

Trucking and this forumn is the last thing on his mind... though he will probably kick himself if he returns to trucking and realizes that this (so far) has been a very mild winter... weather wise.
