The days of "you.ve got a friend in Pa" are long gone. The new un- advertised slogan is "f uck up - pay me."

I thought it was always like that around here. Did I have a friend in the past that I've lost?

having a friend in Pa is a thing of the past. Kind of like 1987 when Col. John Schafer was in charge of the State Police and the system kind of worked.

Now the commonwealth is spinning down the tube.

I like my moms old plate. She's from Wiener Neustadt, Austria and it says

    You got a friend in
    Wiener

She never caught on, but I did, lol.
If she wanted me to go to the store, she would say, take my car.... no thanks, I'll drive mine.

This wasn't necessarily about revenue enhancement.

Little backstory on the relatively recent widespread 10-ton weight limits in PA.

A few years ago, a massive natural gas shale was discovered under PA. Now there's hydro-fracking going on all over northeastern, central and western PA. Naturally people became upset with the sudden surge in related truck traffic all over the state and the state wanted to find a way to discourage fracking without banning it entirely - the solution they came up with was the widespread 10-ton weight limits and huge fines for violating them.

This guy, in deciding to leave his common sense at home, fell victim to this system. However, the "post 6 grand or go to jail" stunt by the judge was nothing short of a crook operation. What's he think this driver is, a millionaire? Truckers, especially haz-mat truckers make good money, but it's not "unexpected 6 grand up front on-demand" good.

    Truckers make good money?

I get $25 extra for a hazmat run, for all my troubles and expense. That is on top of my pennies per mile wage. Most drivers st my company refuse to get the endorsement. They don't think the benefits outweigh the costs and risks.
