The weight would kill you. No profit after the hardware involved to haul the rebar. A stepdeck is not for such loads, but maybe once in a blue moon.

It seems like you are spending a bunch of money for specialized equipment betting on the come. It would be different if you were saying you know of step deck freight you could haul. I would focus on setting up my rig for your normal haul and be as flexible as possible after that. Unless you are leaving out some information, it seems crazy to buy a step deck and a bunch of levellers to haul rebar.

ok this is what i know i've hauled 70' rebar on a 48' step w/3 levelers now there are two types of those available make sure you get the ones rated @12,000 that way they can't give you grief . much nicer than the ones rated @ 6000

to save on the rental fee for the trailer. isn't that why you all buy your own trailers? to stop paying that weekly rental fee some are paying to the companies they are leased on to.

why buy a flat and then a step. just make one purchase and be done.

and i've had a few loads that hit 14 feet or higher. with a step i'd only be 12 and not have to worry about permits or bridges. or utilities.

having a step would open my possilities. besides putting more money in the bank.
And we haul debark every week

ok, now that i've got the step.

rebar would be 3 ft front and 4 feet rear. on a 48 flat it's been 8 feet rear and 4 front. so flex is much less of an issue on the 53 step.

anyways. i've had to pass some really good paying 60 foot loads to california. i've got one set. i need 1 or 2 more sets.

what i've got is a peice that goes on each side of trailer. then you fill with 4x4. still haven't heard a name for what i've got.

I saw an Anderson truck with that type of set up. He had one piece in opposite stake pockets, 4x4's stacked in between them, then a chain that held the pieces together so the 4x4's couldnt come out. Pretty slick. They just looked like a tube that fit in the stake pocket with "C" channel welded to it that was wide enough for the 4x4's to fit into.

Why not just have someone build them? An fabrication shop should be able to whip them up in an hour.
