I am sitting in ME on I95 and have to pickup in Providence in the morning. So I looked at my overnight options and found none. So I sit at the tollway rest plaza waiting for 3am so I can shoot around Boston and get to my pickup.
I don't quite know how you guys do it out here w/o any truckstops basically anywhere, but kudos to you. Not to mention the lack of a flat piece of roadway. All this up and down hills will drive a person crazy![]()

I've been driving the Northeast for 10 years now.....and I'm still wondering what these "truck stop" places are you guys are always talking about!?
You must be in Kennebunk? -
Yeah, that's where I be at.
And I never realized how good us Midwest guys had it till this trip.jardel Thanks this. -
Well, at least you're at the "Taj Mahal" of Maine rest areas, lol!
I'm only about 25 minutes from there in NH. -
Anytime your in the NE, you will need to plan your trip accordingly,, call the shipper/receiver ahead of time,,see if they have over-night parking or if they know of any nearby,, don't rely on those truck-stop books,,alot are out of date or don't have all available and NEVER EVER rely on a trucker gps in the NE, especially around RI, go back to old school map,, look for restrictions and height restrictions and plan your route. Practice backing into very tight spots, cause you'll need it up there,,lol.

There are some places closer to where you are going, but the "pickin's are slim." Unless you can get to one of them before dark you may be better off staying where you have a parking spot. You may make a mental note of any parking facilities that you spot for future use.

don't forget they have a piece of 95 that's not for trucks right in providence. 2500 ticket, n the cops sit right on the last exit ramp when the coffers are low. look up the detour on ridot's website to see if you need to get around it n how..there is a couple truckstops right over the line in new hampshire...my favorite is buzzys. but there n the local TA are small.
Hope you're enjoying the NE otherwise, glad you are liking flatbedding! -
Yes, I am picking up at the port in Providence in the morning and the guy told me about the "no trucks" ban on 95 at the bridge construction. I just decided to stay here for the night and head into RI extra early. They said to be there by 6am so I'm thinking 530 would be better

I'm from the Northeast. I cut my teeth in NYC,Jersey and Philly. 3rd generation Northeast driver too. I'll give you the best advice you're gonna get. When you're up there, go with a good attitude about it. You go with a bad attitude, you're gonna have a bad time. PAY ATTENTION to traffic, pay attention to the signs and don't get into a pack of trucks. Parking is at a premium from Maryland to New Hampshire and Maine is touch and go. Special items about states: PA and NY don't really have scales. They use the rest areas and will surprise you. Make sure your log is up to date. And I mean that. The container and trash haulers fill up most of their day. But they will check your logs in a second. If you don't have to run Rhode Island DO NOT! There is a bridge with a $3,000 toll! Lol. Actually, they don't want trucks on it, by the 27 on I-95.

Theres acually plenty of places up here to stay, the problem is you have to run up here alot to find them. Exit 3 in Nh has 2 truck stops, a TA and a smaller independent right of the exit. The rest area in kennebunk is not bad a long as you dont get stuck in those screwy parking spaces. Just make sure you get off 95 and go around the fine is crazy.
