One of my questions about OTR driving is feeling "secure" when resting in the sleeper at a truck stop or wherever your place of rest may be. Do you ever feel concerned with your only security system is your doors locks? Or do you feel fine while trying to get your rest? (against those possibly "breaking" into your truck while you are sleeping)
Security when resting on the road?

Walking thru the parking lot is different. You just have to be alert or your surroundings. I have never had any problem with any truckdriver that couldn't be diffused easily. Truck Stop employees are a different matter, though. Particularly Flying J employees. -
Sometimes if I am long distance on my motorcycle I will pull into a rest area and lay my sleeping mat out beside my bike and sleep right there. However, I rely on gut instinct and probably wouldnt do it if I was the ONLY vehicle there. To date I have never had an incident doing it.
So, this being said, if I am comfortable out in the open beside my motorcycle, the chances are I would feel safe in a truck at the same rest area.
I dont do the same thing at truck stops for sure. -
