I'm filling out an application for a driving job before I go to school. This company say's they will consider graduated students and to please fill out an app. It ask's if I ever lost my license. Should I put down a 25 yr old DWI? I quit drinking 20 yrs a go. I want to be honest and explain rather than not and loose a possible great job. Thank again. petesout

Put it in. Most companies want it to be at least 5 years old.

I wouldn't mention it. For the main reason, anything that old won't even show up on your MVR. There is a difference in "being honest" (to work an effective 12-Step program) and being "too honest". It MAY jump up and sting you.
Consider the "except when to do so" clause of Step 6.

Hey Petesout..... Same situation here. I ordered a DAC report and background check from DacFix 27 bucks. This way I'll know whats on my record. My screw ups are from the mid 70's and earlier so I'm not sure whats on there. If it doesn't show up on the report I won't list it. Good Luck

When you lost your license, Pete, it was your chauffer's license--not a CDL. There might be a loophole there. Maybe not.

If this isn't listed on a criminal record anywhere, I'd not mention it to anybody.

There is a time when being honest isn't the best policy. This is one of those cases. It's nobody's business you got a DWI 25 years ago. It matters for nothing now. If you mention it, a company may use it against you somehow. At the very least you'll be branded as "damaged goods".

I'd keep quiet about it if it's not on a criminal record today.

I didn't have my cdl back then so it was just my drivers license. So for now I will just say it was so long a go and I haven't drank in 20 yrs and I just forgot about it. Works for me. Thanks guys. petesout
