I need info on if a reciever can make you pay there lumper fees and not unload it yourself. Livonia logistivs in detroit says we can not unload and must pay lumper fees.

That's true , especially at union docks . Part of the issue is liability . If you get a lumper insist on seeing his social security card to report the expense to IRS as a deduction .

welcome to trucking ! they can do anything they want to do . All you can do is call the your boss or broker and deal with it that way or just take it back to where you got .

Oh and don't call the marshal's office they really don't deal with this stuff . just saying .

Sorry , I admit to not being up to date on proper procedures with lumpers . I haven't seen one in over 20 years .

When the recruiters came out to the school, they always told us that we can always help with the unload and make more money........what baloney!! I have only been paid to unload one truck load in 5 years, it was water heaters to a place that was in the middle of "no where AL" and they did not have a dock. Most places I have delivered, dont want you anywhere near the dock.........but I have not done much food warehouse work, where that might be the norm.

So do you enjoy the tank work?? We have so many fuel hauling companies around Nashviile. I think food grade would be interesting.....just would take sometime getting used to the surge.

If I was able to use the electric pallet jacks and actually get paid the same as the lumpers do, I wouldn't mind makin a few extra bucks and gettin a little exercise.
