No I never did work for speedy. I competed against them for a long time and then sold my rig moving business to Hemphill which was previously bought by Transforce and then they bought speedy and most recently they have bought I. E. Miller.

Yea I deal with Wally quite a bit over there although I can't hardly stand buying anything from Pat. I've got a bed truck over at Airco being rigged right now.

Pat is the guy that got me out of retirement. I knew him before he even started Camex.

I see. I've never had any luck buying anything from them I've had them sell three bed trucks out from under me. I did get one winch tractor bought though. I usually deal with Jack Duncan or I just have Brian over at Airco rig me new stuff. If I'm going to buy trailers I usually just buy directly from Peerless although every once in a while I will buy some stuff at the auction.

I just got home from ND from my first summer fall up there. I pulled a belly and actually enjoyed it. Great way to get use to the area and figure out whats going on. I am going back in March to pull water tanker.
I agree with AC22 about cascade. Go some where else if you can. I was actually getting all set up with them and it sounded great. However I stopped by there yard one day and found a couple OO and got the truth. Now I am not saying there going to a terrible outfit but the recruiting lady doesnt tell you everything. They are just trying to get people signed up. They are the lowest paying outfit I have found. The guys I talked to were making it work and doing ok but they all new they could do better. But it may be a way in for someone new to the area.

    AC22 Thanks this.

Oh I totally agree that it takes training. But so does everything else in life. These young guys and gals who have never been in oil field have no idea what they are getting into or what they are capable of. 1 st they will never handle the hours. But they do. Can't drive a huge machine like that. But the ones who want to learn do. I just meant I have seen plenty of kids that started at 18 turn 21 that have been driving and learning off road and in yard. They get CDL and off they go. Main thing is just shut up and do the job unless asked to do something really stupid or dangerous. I hauled a lot of OF housing. We had XL extendable steps. Would be stretched out 5 holes or 15 extra ft on deck. Have about 5 ft hanging over rear. 12'6" wide and about 15' high. Just like everything else. Get it loaded. Boom it down. Placard, flag and drive safe. Meet escorts where required. Most of this went to Rifle through Loveland Pass. Over the years lots of odd ball equipment and machinery.

I've trained lots of kids to do it and beleive it or not they are way easier to train because you don't have to break all the bad habits that older drivers have. You are right though most of the older guys wont ever make it past the hours and the roads. All I'm saying is that a winch truck is not something that you can just walk up to crawl inside and run no matter how long you've been driving truck. The stretch trailers I run a whole fleet of them and right now I'm in the process of moving a bunch of camps from Houston to Northern PA but they are stretched 21 feet with four feet out the back and almost 15 wide and 14 10 high it's not something that just everybody can do.

Gets tough when you get that wide. We got routed all over Hell with some 16' stuff. Up to WY and then backtrack down. I like the stretch steps. Expensive but makes it easier to get good paying loads. Have thought about getting back in with one. Watching economy. People here say the money is ready to jump into patch real heavy all over. Hope so.
