Any thoughts, current drivers, opinions on McElroy Trucking? I am currently taking driver training at SAGE, and McElroy is one of the many companies recruiting there. I've been to their website, and its very basic. Pay looks good, but it mentions "yardwork" as part of the training. From what I've read on these boards, "yardwork" means, that you won't be driving much.

Yardwork to me= Mostly you'll be working around the trailers on the yard. Probably been showed hands on tips far as; Different ways of folding tarps correctly, Handling tarps (up from ground onto trailer), maybe some mini tarping of preloaded trailer using tiedowns, rolling your straps up,throwing straps over loads, using a winch bar, using chains and binders, and learning the name of all the various equipment a flatbedder use day in and day out, etc, etc.
However McElroy may have their own orientation agenda laid out for yardwork... But mostly that mainly what i can see what it being, something that you might wanted pay attention to just to learn different ways of doing things(faster, but still with that SAFE state of mind on your forehead)
Right now a couple of guys i've talkd to in Natchez,MS have been down for a couple of days.. I know every since last tuesday after the holidays. Most of the guys pull out that tuesday morning or afternoon or what not, but i was thinking to myself that the bad weather that came through probably had some to do with it... Cause they usually be gone sunday evening and back in friday evening on a week to week basic. They both told me that they have alot of drop off's and pick up's. Like ladders, shingles, and more building materials. To like lowes, and home depot am guessing, it a post on here going more into this lowes account i think Mcelroy have setup with them.Hope this help you at least a liitle...

They ain't boxboys. You can't drive until nothing falls off the board. It is never good for the suicide coil to get there before you do...

Notarps, I believe that just went way over their heads, but you forgot to mention with those internationals be sure to take out the cb from the overhead compartment because when said "suicide coil" makes its way to it's delivery prematurely you don't want to lose your box stock cobra29 in the process
