Lived in Phoenix for 12 years before heading up here to the great white north. I learned to drive in the mountains in the winter, up and down I-5 over the grapevine, on cabbage patch in Oregon, and through Snoquamie in Washington. Hopefully your trainer is out west so that you get plenty of practice in the mountains.

After orientation in Gary they will fly me to Phoenix to meet up with my trainer. I did learn to drive in winter conditions in Up-state NY when I started driving long ago. Still do it a few times a year. I am glad I will be going with trainer in January so he can give me good tips on winter driving.

Finished first day of orientation. Hair test, pee test and physical fittness test in the morning. Class all afternoon. Fittness test was was not worth the worry over it! Tomorrow we start with load securement. But for now on to lots of homework for the evening.

Day two was in the class room in the AM learning Roehl saftey. Then after lunch (which they provide) we did some driving and learning the Roehl way of shifting. Next was some 45 degree alley docking. Nice to finally get in the trucks...Guess we're going to terrorize Gary,IN tomorrow as we are out on the streets driving!!

Basically, some pull, push and lateral pull downs at various weights, ladder climb, balance beam, squats, and a few more. They monitor your heart rate to make sure it doesn't go above the limit for your age. There are links to the exercises in a couple of the other threads.

All the homework is from trying to jam 10-14 days with a trainer that you would have had into 8 days at the terminal... Good luck, I hope that you make it through okay... Just ask lots of questions, and make them get you the answer.
