I should have went to glass. I'm not getting home but every other weekend in flatbed. Wtf!! I even sat in a truck stop for three days over new years weekend. Maverick might be a good company, but the hometime doesn't measure up to their claims.

My husband is a flatbedder for Maverick and other than the 6(?) weeks he spent with his trainer, he has only missed 1 weekend of home time and he got his own truck on October 13, 2011. I know, that means he has not been with Maverick very long but that is the facts of HIS home time experience. Your experience might be different depending on your location and how the freight has been moving. I see you are in Mint Hill, NC - not sure how far that is from the Laurinburg, NC terminal - my husband and I live about 20 minutes away from the NLR terminal.

I understand that it is frustrating. I have not experienced it, but I know how you must feel. Make sure to convey those feelings respectfully to your fleet manager.

I feel your pain. Been there done that hack last year January February same thing for me. Some years better some years worse but January February March is the worst time for flatbeding. I stay running fine just sometimes not back to the house.
Like Jim said talk to your FM.
And Christmas to New Year's is always bad. That's why I have never worked between those two days in over 25 years.
And don't worry there are not picking on you being a new guy. Heck,I am black hat and I still get hung out. And don't you know black cats always get home at Friday by five and don't have to leave till Monday at seven. LOL
just hang in there Steve things will all work out in the end.
Drive safe and enjoy the ride.

It's good to let it out here on this forum from time to time. Sometimes it seems like you are the only one experiencing all of this but once you post you gripe you find you are not alone. I rarely talk to my FM and sometimes can go a week without talking to another Maverick driver at a customer. That's what I really like about this Forum, gives you a connection to other Mavericks and drivers.

I tell everyone to look at the week not the day, and then find myself getting upset about a day thats not going as I planned it! :biggrin_2552:

One load 4,123 miles, and counting. How is that possible? Well I picked up in Geneva NY with a load going to Kingsburg CA, 2723 miles I delivered on Tuesday (24 hours early) and sat waiting on a load for 4 hours. I guess they couldn't find one so they deadheaded me 1400 miles to TX. I'm pulling a step deck so I could have hauled just about any commodity but who knows, not a lot of freight leaving CA I guess. So now I'm limping my way back to TX on recap hours. Spending the night at the Pilot in Albuquerque NM. So hope to get loaded on Saturday with glass.
Also, those miles are paid miles not hub miles. I don't think It could get much better than this. Next week I'll probably be up to my eyeballs in the white stuff and no miles. Oh well we'll see.
