Should the driver pay for equipment damage?

Driver shouldn't pay anything. You run a company, and that means covering the expenses. furthermore, unless he has a clause in a signed contract stating you can deduct from his check for damages then it is a violation to do so.

 

I'm a company driver and like the fact that the company pays for most of the expenses of the truck. That being said if it is my fault I admit it and don't complain if the cost comes out of my check. The driver said that the Guy in front of him ran over the same thing. So was he following to close? If so its his fault and he should pay some if not all the cost.

It's on you as far as I'm concerned....It's your truck, You hired the driver and the results are YOUR responsibility.

Why should he be finacially responsible for YOUR truck? If he's a bad driver...Get rid of him but otherwise I think you have to just live with it.

 

Keep charging company drivers to maintain your own equipment and pretty soon you'll find yourself having to pick up and deliver your own freight! and be left with no drivers at all.

 

I have never heard of a company driver having to pay for anything. Never. I mean, i've had that tried on me before but, never happens. Or else it's off to court we go! File a claim for "non-payment of services rendered" 3 times fold (because of back pay and personal/emotional damages) It costs $35 to file a small claims court law suit in my local county court house.
