Would you haul for a brokerage that guaranteed to only charge a MAXIMUM of 10% of what the shippers pay?

The guarantee is honored by showing the carrier what the shipper actually is paying on EVERY load, before the load confirmation.

would and if they had com check quick pay I'd go a little more.

This would only be a single brokerage, with in-house brokers only. (its own employees) But they aren't paid on commission or anything of the nature. So they wouldn't be able to change the rate. It's a set in stone deal.

I honestly could care less what percentage the brokers I use take. There are some accounts that take a LOT more work for the broker to keep happy than others. The place I'm picking up at this evening requires a lot from broker that I get the loads from, but they also pay top-dollar to have the liberty to call at the last minute and know they'll always have a truck. Why on earth would I care what % the broker is keeping when I'm making north of $3-4/mi on a light, no-tarp load? I suspect this broker keeps in the neighborhood of $.80-1.00/mi on these loads, but he always calls me and quotes me a price higher than I would have quoted him, so I don't care. I also know that he earns most of it, he's spent years putting out fires for this customer, like getting trucks last minute on a Sunday afternoon, and has commented to me several times about how much he loves this broker, and is fully aware that he's paying well over market rates for his service.

It seems like you harp on this over and over and over-stop obsessing over something you can't change. The only thing you have control over is what price you charge for your service. If someone isn't willing to pay your price, find someone who will. People with a lot of experience in this line of work have told you this over and over again, but you continue to show how little you understand about this industry by continually trying to find a way around brokers actually making a living doing the work they do.

The only time I have ever been pissed at a broker was when I stood for 3 days waiting for a power cable to be lifted on an oversize load.
He said he could not pay detention.
I then found out I was only getting 20% of the revenue.

Care what you are getting rather than what you are not.
50% of $5 for me you can have the 90% of $2.

You know how much money a broker can make on 10% of $1,20 freight if he had enough O/O to subsidize the freight.

The first line in your post sums up the whole problem with truckers today.
I bet you dont even know what the fuel surcharge is on them loads do you? Take the fuel out and you have just an avg paying load. But you dont care cause your getting big bucks and your happy your broker is keeping at least 25% to just call you.

If anyone thinks being a broker is a walk in the park then they should try it.
Good brokers have their place and have to have a their own skills set.
Its a lot more than just a bit of paper work just like trucking is lot more than just holding a steering wheel.

Before I get upset let me say this...
I started this thread because I wanted to see if 10% is a decent rate to charge as a broker. I came across this question when i was reading one of Big Bad Bill posts and he said, his brokerage would only charge 10%.

I was trying to figure out if I too would start a brokerage in 5-10 years or so. But I needed a little feedback as to a decent rate to charge and still be profitable.

    Now as for you...
Don't ever tell me what I should or shouldn't do! Ok! :biggrin_25516:
I'm here to research on any topic I please. If you don't like it, DON'T RESPOND! You got some nerve... You had no clue of the pursope of this thread, but yet you made a silly asumption.. lol...
Theres allot more I would like to say but I'm going to try to let this one go.

Why would I care what the fuel surcharge is? The shipper hires the broker to provide a service. The broker hires me to provide part of that service. I get paid a very generous rate in exchange for my services. Do you ask McDonalds how much of the cost of their burger is for a tomato surcharge?
