I always had good luck out of the general steer tires, balanced with glass beads in them, I got on avg 110-140k out of steers with 4-5/32 left. on a 98 shaker fld! but i had a 3 axle alignment once a year, and replaced my steer shocks when I changed steer tires. just my .02

I'm running Hankook AL07+ steers and really like them 40k miles and only took 8oz to balance (they had never been balanced) perfect tread wear and I mainly run rural two lanes

Find g/man on this forum. He knows a place nearby GA to get great deals on tires.

Stay away from Toyo's!! that was my biggest waste of money ever....except for a particular 09 dodge ram that I continue to give the bank money for each month. anyways since this is about steer tires I've had the best luck with Bridgestone R260. They were $420 each but after a year and 80,000 miles they are barely showing any road wear whatsoever.

I put Dunlops on that Cascadia I had, did an allignment and after 130K miles still had more than 50% on them. But I don't corner hard or torque my steering around much. Most of the loads I hauled with that truck were 42K+.

Michelin supersingles steers, only tyre! Bridgestone last. Brilliant but are a nightmare on wet roads cos the compound is too hard, for the last 11 years I ran Michelin front cos they last and are soft enough for good grip( important here cos of all the rain) bridgestone are kings of drive tyre cos of the mileage , nobody can match them especially when you have a retarder, nothing else stands up to retarder abuse

I have Goodyear 399 on my steer. So far with 8/32 left they've managed 160,000 miles. Thats with a 3 axle alignment each year. Rolling resistance is 118 according to Michelins R/R calculator...

I run HRSII and I have ever had any problems with traction in any type of weather. I even run them on my drives and never had any problems.

I'll second that, I bought a set of these last June for my old Pete, chose them because of the price and low rolling resistsnce. My buddy was impressed with them enough to buy a set, now I bought another set last month for my international . Both my sets are wearing great, ride great, no complaints! I went with Hankook DL11 drives on my ih and love them to, in a couple months my trailer will have 8 new Hankooks also!
