I think he meant under 26,001 lbs.

Illinois licenses the truck up to 26,000 before IFTA and IRP.

Yep. looks overweight to me. GVWR is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. This is the maximum weight that can be carried (Gross = truck + trailer + cargo). The ticket goes by that & not the actual weight.

    Quick math:
    truck - 8,300
    trailer- +5,400
    -------13,700

    Licensed @------ 26,001
    wght from above -13,700
    max cargo allowed 12,001

That's an awfully big trailer for only legally hauling 12,001 lbs.

    26000-8300-5400=12300 its simple math.

The simple answer has nothing to do with the gvw's or vin plates now!
Get yourself a GOOD lawyer there, that will be hard in it's self.
Have lawyer PUT OFF court GO and get your class A CDL. Show up for court with your lawyer and see if you can get it reduced or dissmissed with paying something. ( best bet for lawyer would be a former prosecuter or retired judge they have the "buddy" clique) Otherwise you will have a hard time getting a CDL and you will be stuck with running U-ship cars.
